The day started out with a look at the Future of Virtualization a sessíon held by Alessandro Perilli from Virtualization.info. Alessandro did a good job going through the different aspects of the virtualization world we live in, Alessandro did a good job of sharing his own no-bs oppinions about what is going to have a future, who is challenged and what should we all be on the lookout for over the next couple of years. After the session i had the pleasure of talking to Alessandro about the situation that i see in the area of Microsoft Hyper-V and the challenges in the messaging towards the end-users. Alessandro spend almost no time talking about Hyper-V and the same goes for many of the other people i follow on the web, however endusers seem to be determined to run Hyper-V, test Hyper-V and have a hope to be able to run their infrastructure on a pure Microsoft infrastructure. Alessandro made clear that his oppinion is that Hyper-V may have an impact however VMware seems to be completely focused on the high-end market. Made even clearer with their newest messages about their cloud initiatives and other stuff which will be useful mainly for really large and complex organisations.
After this Citrix did a presentation on ‘whats new’ giving a lot of focus to the LabManager product in their Citrix Essentials for .. Hyper-V/XenServer ..
Now lunch
