The Cisco Nexus 1000v Switch is now being made available as a 60 day evaluation, this gives you all a chance to try out what it means to have a fully integrated Cisco switch to manage your virtual infrastructure. The management of the switch is done using a management server and Command Line Interface.. the Cisco way. I wrote about this product a while back as i was talking about the birth of Virtual Appliances, and let me just quickly clarify, the Nexus 1000v integrates directly into the VMware ESX, it is not a virtual appliance as such.

I am still wondering when we will see this kind of integration with Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer etc. as i am sure this will help a lot of Virtualization engineers out there, passing the network administration to the network administrators.
