Jeremy Tirrel posted a script to do a zero downtime snapshot based XenServer 5.5 backup. It is a cool script, however looking at his blog post alone it does not all make sense, so make sure you download the zip-file and take a look at the cool scripts in there.

    Here is a link to my backup script, I dissected the code from that script and made it into a few bash script’s and then added the capability to put it on an attached esata or usb hardrive or an array of smaller esata or usb hard drive’s to make up one large volume to fit larger vm’s
