The blog..

Hey folks,

Just a small headsup, it seems XenApp 5.0 is not supported on Windows 2008 R2 and i have not heard about any workarounds so far. From Citrix the official answer seems to be that “Server 2008 R2 will be supported in a future Citrix release.”

If you want more information check: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX122601

To be honest i find this extremely wierd.. it seems from the buzz that R2 is going to be much more commonly used than Windows Server 2008. I would think XenApp 5.0 should be run on the most stable and commonly used 2008 OS.. but guess we will have to wait :-)

This forum has current status about the progress of XenApp compatibility. http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=250807&tstart=0

It is because of the new Remote Desktop 7 in Server 2008 R2. I thought it was weird until I found this out.

Could one say that maybe Citrix knew about RDS 7 before the release of R2 and maybe we could have expected atleast a roadmap for the release of a supported version? :-)
