Anyways.. i have not been blogging lately and even my participation in the forums have fallen to a nonexistant level, and ofcourse i chose to blame my son 100%.. but what i started thinking about the other day was, how lucky i am to actually miss this, there has been times where i wondered if i blogged for myself or for everyone else, so the last few months spend getting to know my son, surely told me it has been just as much for myself as anyone else. No doubt an extra little guy in the house will take more time, but luckily i have been able to turn my focus back to what i truly love, virtualization technologies and especially Citrix which naturally has a special place with me.

I will be working with Citrix more focused looking ahead and i am looking forward to share my experiences with you all.

The Danish Citrix User Group is just now planning the next Meetup, and shortly there will be news and information available on www.dkcug.dk

Just as importantly, the preparation for Grand Pubforum Frankfurt 2010 is under way and it looks great so far, i truly believe this might end up being the best Pubforum ever. It is being held in the hometown of the Father of Pubforum, Alex Juschin, and information will be released to www.pubforum.net as it is finalized, book the flights now.

Citrix User Group Norway is also in the middle of preparations for their spring event in Lillestrøm, just outside Oslo, these guys never cease to amaze me, so i am truly looking forward to the finalized agenda! you can keep up to date here: http://cug.no/xenzone/

The Agenda is packed this time around a lot of great speakers, i personally can’t wait to get under way.. it is awesome to be at an event which has an agenda so tightly packed that the question is what session would you least like to miss rather than which session do you want to attend. I hope everyone in the area and interest in Citrix and surrounding technologies will consider this a trip to take. There will be a lot of hardcore technical content, and a lot of social networking. Atleast that is what i found there in spring, so i am expecting nothing less this time!

Citrix User Group Norway just opened up registration so it is just a matter of getting registered and book transport!

After having visited the Norwegian User group on their spring event from Oslo to Kiel, then visiting Las Vegas for the Citrix Partner Summit and the Citrix Synergy event which i have blogged about earlier i we held the 2009 Pubforum Dublin just earlier this month. It was a great event, sadly my duties during the event kept me from blogging as much from the event has i have done earlier. But i can tell you that the event was great, awesome presenters and as it is with Pubforum wonderful attendees. At Pubforum everyone is a family.. presenter and attendee alike, it is one of the great things and i am happy to be a part of the event. Next Pubforum will be in Frankfurt Germany the home city of Pubforum Founder Alex Y..Dr.Conti, so i bet he will do what he can to make us all feel like we were at home

Now i am back to attending my day-job, and at last i have worked my way through the work which had piled up on my desk. And with the summer coming i hope i will have time to write articles and blog posts about all the many impressions i have gotten over the last couple of months. I will be kicking of today or tomorrow with the first part of a serie i have chosen to call The Essentials of Virtualization.

Back on the Blog.. back on twitter.. its good to be home ……… maybe i should get out more

Some of the tools mentioned were:

- Microsoft Application compatibility toolkit.

- Application verifier

- NetSim for WAN simulering

- Dependency walker

- Regmon / Filemon ( I personally like process monitor better, more areas but requires more selection in the data.)

On another note the session led into a discussion on the new group policy options in windows server 2008, whether or not the new features will replace the logon-script so many uses today.

Directions to help optimize the logon time in your XenApp environment. Talking about aspects like cleaning out the Default user and disabling Active Setup, building a good way to deploy the start menu to the users, based on scripted copy, redirection of the start menu and other scenarios.

Tahir and Olav did a great session. All in all i would like to thank the Norwegian User Group for having me at their event, it was a well-run event, great content, great presenters and an open atmosphere. Some of the late night conversations might have bits that were lost in translation, but i am thinking it would be the same with an all danish-event

I sure got a lot of great input as to what i need to do with the upcoming Danish Citrix User group, Thanx for a great event .

After a good lunch yesterday the event continued with Alessandro Perilli with a topic on the competitors in the virtualization space. It was interesting to hear his view on the situation in what sometimes seems like an over-filled market. Alessandro did a good job explaining the pros and cons of the competitors. And this morning he concluded his serie of 3 sessions with a view into the Security of the virtualization platform. I think its hard to recap the content of this security session, but the truth is that he got me wondering if maybe the rapid pace in which we are moving to virtualization is actually too fast and might end up causing security risks that we cannot comprehend today. Maybe we should move back to physical servers?.. anyone see a pattern

Daniel Wedel from the norwegian distributor Commaxx did an excellent presentation on XenServer 5.0, functionality and possibilities. Daniel was an excellent presenter and extremely knowledgeable about XenServer.

Today Alessandro Perilli did his security in virtualization session like i mentioned earlier after which Hårvard Bruvold from Steria did a presentation of Citrix Access Gateway Enterprise and integration with XenApp. It was a run through of the configuration needed and demonstration of the improved security when using the Secure Gateway functionality which is available in both the Secure Gateway and all Access Gateway editions.

Ole Kristian Lona from Atea did a good presentation on the Netscaler, what is it, and what do we need it for. Ole Kristian did a good job running through the concepts and technologies which is in the Netscaler platform. I really think we need to find a few good Citrix evangelists to work on the ANG products to bring the messages of new features to the community.. it is a very different product line.

.. Next up is going to be Tahir Saleem & Olav Lillebo from Tenera, they are going to share their insights on Tips and tricks when implementing XenApp. I will do a post about this session at a later time, if there ends up being information which is non-Norwegian

It truly is great to be in a different country with languages so alike that we can speak to each other in our natives tongues and the norwegian user group has been extremely open. They are a great group.
