Yay! Citrix Receiver for Windows and Merchandising server 1.1 is here!

A while back Citrix announced and released their a way for Citrix customers to distribute and manage the needed clients in the infrastructure. I personally love the idea, and think it is a great initiative, however version 1.0 was a bit limited, so i was thrilled to receive an email from Aaron Videtto, Product Manager, telling us that version 1.1 has been released.

There are a lot of really cool features in the new release i cant wait to test them out:

One feature i am really missing is pass-through, for many customers it is not really acceptable to have the users type in username and password more than once, and i guess implementing Password Manager to solve this is not really an option

With the new release of the Receiver for windows the supported list of plug-ins has also grown:

Citrix Secure Gateway memory leak

Shawn Bass posted a blog post about his experiences with Secure Gateway 3.1.1. Shawn explains that after some period of time the private bytes in use by the secure gateway service climbs to a point where it stops working.

Another major problem with this memory leak is that even when the service is no longer working as intended the service still listens on port 443, so a load balanced setup will not be able to detect the problem.

Also if you need to downgrade be aware of the known security vulnerability in 3.1.

Visio Stencils for Citrix

Anyone ever found it hard to find Citrix hotfixes?

Gus Pinto just made a post gathering up the RSS feeds needed for the Citrix support hotfix’s. I think it is a great way to recieve updates on the current products you work with.

Seems from Gus’s post that this service have been available since the remaking of the Citrix Support website, i just never fell across the information, thanx to Gus for bringing it to the worlds attention, truly a great improvement

Pass-Through from Access Gateway 4.x to Webinterface 3.x and 4.x

Found myself in need of Thomas Koetzings website today as he has often been the supplier of the fix for pass-through from Access Gateway to webinterface. However for some reason the site was down. Luckily Ruben Spruijt was online and was quick on a reference to the Citrix Knowledgebase article on the matter. http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX106202&searchID=40424855

I was happy to find that Citrix has recently released the fix for Webinterface 4.5 as well, so good job Citrix ?

I have used the fix for WI 4.0 several times and without bugs or issues and today also implemented the fix on a Webinterface 4.5 and it seems to be just as easy to implement as the previous versions.
