I personally love the idea, and think it is a great initiative, however version 1.0 was a bit limited, so i was thrilled to receive an email from Aaron Videtto, Product Manager, telling us that version 1.1 has been released.</p>
<p>There are a lot of really cool features in the new release i cant wait to test them out:<a href="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/YayCitrixReceiverforWindowsandMe.1ishere_93E7/image.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/YayCitrixReceiverforWindowsandMe.1ishere_93E7/image_thumb.png" width="680" height="408" /></a> </p>
<p>One feature i am really missing is pass-through, for many customers it is not really acceptable to have the users type in username and password more than once, and i guess implementing Password Manager to solve this is not really an option <img src='http://www.renevester.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>With the new release of the Receiver for windows the supported list of plug-ins has also grown:<a href="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/YayCitrixReceiverforWindowsandMe.1ishere_93E7/image_3.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/YayCitrixReceiverforWindowsandMe.1ishere_93E7/image_thumb_3.png" width="522" height="560" /></a> </p>
</p>
<p>I hope to find time to write a full hands-on review after i get back from Florida, but for now it is available from the download-section of MyCitrix. You can find it here: <a title="https://www.citrix.com/English/ss/downloads/results.asp?productID=1689163" href="https://www.citrix.com/English/ss/downloads/results.asp?productID=1689163">https://www.citrix.com/English/ss/downloads/results.asp?productID=1689163</a> (You need to log in to MyCitrix)</p>
<p>Will do a hands-on review at first possible opportunity.</p>

<p>Another major problem with this memory leak is that even when the service is no longer working as intended the service still listens on port 443, so a load balanced setup will not be able to detect the problem.</p>
<p>Read more on Shawn’s blog here: <a title="http://www.shawnbass.com/Blogs/tabid/58/EntryId/164/Beware-of-Secure-Gateway-v3-1-1-it-has-a-major-memory-leak-that-will-take-down-your-WI-SG-environment.aspx" href="http://www.shawnbass.com/Blogs/tabid/58/EntryId/164/Beware-of-Secure-Gateway-v3-1-1-it-has-a-major-memory-leak-that-will-take-down-your-WI-SG-environment.aspx">http://www.shawnbass.com/Blogs/tabid/58/EntryId/164/Beware-of-Secure-Gateway-v3-1-1-it-has-a-major-memory-leak-that-will-take-down-your-WI-SG-environment.aspx</a></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So i have been toying with the Paint by numbers kit that Citrix made available on <a href="http://www.pimpmyxenapp.com">www.pimpmyxenapp.com</a>. I first saw this initiative at the Citrix Summit in Orlando a while back. I did not really know what it was all about but imagined it was something that made it possible for anybody in the whole world to build custom web interfaces&#8230; &#8230; &#8230; I was very wrong <img src='http://www.renevester.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> I think to be honest that building and designing websites/web interfaces is not a Citrix Administrator task, unless he/she has a web-developer hidden inside. However the black layout of the Webinterface is a bit hard on the eyes for many of the customers i have spoken with.</p>
<p>So what is inside the Paint by numbers kit for webinterface customization? Well there is a description on how to turn your webinterface into en easier on the eye colorscheme. What i did was to take my standard normal 5.0 webinterface and paint it white. So now it looks like this:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/wiwhite-en.jpg"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="441" alt="WIwhite-EN" src="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/wiwhite-en-thumb.jpg" width="640" border="0" /></a></p>
<p>I added my company&#8217;s logo through the standard management console and i now have a more neutral webinterface. It is in my oppinion a lot easier on the eye and alot easier to get in sync with the company colors and branding. Citrix provided new graphics for the animated loading page so that everything fits the same scheme.</p>
<p>As always everyone wants their webinterface to fit their personal needs, so this means that Webinterface is constantly in focus when it comes to nationalizing. And earlier <a href="http://www.brianmadden.com/">Brian Madden</a> updated a list of language-packs supplied for Webinterface, but i couldnt seem to find it when i was looking just now. </p>
<p>However i did a simple danish translation of the first major things, and i am leaning towards not translating the error messages as it will mostly confuse the administrators and the supports.</p>
<p>The files needed to edit and create your own language files are all placed in C:\program files\citrix\Web interface\languages.</p>
<p>The end result for me is this, when it comes to danish, this could be in any language that makes more sense to you <img src='http://www.renevester.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><a href="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/wiwhite-dk.jpg"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="441" alt="WIwhite-DK" src="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/wiwhite-dk-thumb.jpg" width="640" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p>Give it a try, if you guys are interested i will gladly host a list of files with reference to the translator for each set of language files.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So at Citrix Summit Orlando, it truly seemed Citrix is doing a major push to support their community. I made a blogpost earlier about the new application verification program, found easily at <a href="http://community.citrix.com/citrixready">http://community.citrix.com/citrixready</a>.</p>
<p>I do not know if Citrix could tell the future and wanted to support the upcoming President Obama, or whatever their reason was, but as many of you might already .. the webinterface is now black! <img src='http://www.renevester.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> its been given a great new and updated look and feel, but very few customers actually use blue and black as the corporate colours. So, as part of the new strategy to help the community share what they learn Citrix did a new website called <a href="http://www.pimpmyxenapp.com">www.pimpmyxenapp.com</a>. </p>
<p>So what is PimpMyXenApp?</p>
<p><a href="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/image.png"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="356" alt="image" src="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/image-thumb.png" width="440" border="0" /></a>&#160; </p>
<p>PimpMyXenApp.com is really community platform when you can get a glimpse of what others have done with Webinterface, you are able to download the Paint By Numbers Kit so that you yourself can work with your webinterface, or even better have a professional Webdeveloper do magic for your corporate webinterface. </p>
<p>At the site there is also a link to the Webinterface SDK support forum so you share and discuss with other members of the community who are looking to change the webinterface. </p>
<p>And i must say.. Webinterface can be tweak in alot of ways, and one of the most crazy i have seen is from Jason Conger, have a look at this video.</p>
<p>
<div class="wlWriterSmartContent" id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:fd3faab3-c16c-4f66-8474-784542034491" style="padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-top: 0px">
<div id="231c4331-caf4-473b-af8f-21e562c4a293" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;">
<div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3pxtRmPOiI" target="_new"><img src="http://www.renevester.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/videoc6fde1b8b6cf.jpg" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('231c4331-caf4-473b-af8f-21e562c4a293'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = &quot;&lt;div&gt;&lt;object width=\&quot;425\&quot; height=\&quot;355\&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=\&quot;movie\&quot; value=\&quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/C3pxtRmPOiI\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/param&gt;&lt;param name=\&quot;wmode\&quot; value=\&quot;transparent\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/param&gt;&lt;embed src=\&quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/C3pxtRmPOiI\&quot; type=\&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash\&quot; wmode=\&quot;transparent\&quot; width=\&quot;425\&quot; height=\&quot;355\&quot;&gt;&lt;\/embed&gt;&lt;\/object&gt;&lt;\/div&gt;&quot;;" alt=""></a></div>
</div>
</div>
<p>I just wanted to show that the Webinterface can be a lot more than just the black elegant look which is the standard, but it takes a bit of time and effort. Hopefully we will see alot of templates for Webinterface. It would be cool if we could have a template frenzy like it has been seen on opensource blogs like wordpress and what not. </p>
<p>Maybe Citrix will make it even easier to distribute the templates, we will see..</p>

Luckily Ruben Spruijt was online and was quick on a reference to the Citrix Knowledgebase article on the matter. <a href="http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX106202&amp;searchID=40424855">http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX106202&amp;searchID=40424855</a></p>
<p>I was happy to find that Citrix has recently released the fix for Webinterface 4.5 as well, so good job Citrix <span style="font-family: Wingdings;">?</span></p>
<p>I have used the fix for WI 4.0 several times and without bugs or issues and today also implemented the fix on a Webinterface 4.5 and it seems to be just as easy to implement as the previous versions.</p>

<p> Citrix has updated the KB article about this with a usable Work around for this problem.</p>
<p> The Problem is that the Access Suite Management console isnt working with the create site and other options when .Net Framework 2.0 is installed on the server running the console.</p>
<p>This is the new solution from Citrix:</p>
<p><span class="stellent-heading2"><strong>Symptoms</strong></span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-normal">The Access Suite Console is no longer able to properly communicate with Web Interface. The option to <strong>Create Sites</strong> is no longer available in the Common Tasks Pane of the Access Suite Console, and running discovery reports a warning which states “Could not contact any Web Interface configuration servers.”</span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-heading2"><strong>Causes</strong></span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-normal">This is caused by installing Microsoft .NET 2.0 on a Web Interface 4.0 server. </span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-heading2"><strong>WorkAround</strong></span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-normal">Remove .NET version 2.0. </span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-normal">-Or-</span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-normal">Create a file called “mmc.exe.config” in the \Windows\system32 directory and add the following lines to the file. You should be able to open the Access Suite Console without any further problems.</span></p>
<p><span class="stellent-normal"><!--l version ="1.0--></span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For a long time the place to change hotkey settings for the webclient has been the template.ica on the webinterface server. Simply following the guidelines of <a href="http://ctxex10.citrix.com/kb/entry.jspa?externalID=CTX140219">http://ctxex10.citrix.com/kb/entry.jspa?externalID=CTX140219</a>.</p>
<p>In Webinterface 4.0 there has been a small change, the template.ica has been changed to default.ica. The Format of the file has also been changed however we can continue to use our old legacy files with the note that all sections named [NFUSE_XXX] will not be read.</p>
